Pappaperm 4,5,6

I just returned home after dropping Hunter off at Barnehage (nursery). Even though we spent three days last week introducing him to everyone and gradually leaving him for longer periods, I couldn't help but get a bit upset when I got back in the car. His beautiful little face when I kissed his forehead and told him I love him! He's absolutely fine and loves being around the other kids and caring staff so there's no problem there, it's just hit me how strange it is to be home without him.

We've had a busy few weeks. We've climbed the steps up to Fjellstua with Uncle Matt and Junz where he crawled around at the top, getting his clothes completely covered in shit (not real shit) and charmed a small group of tourists. One of them asked if she could take a photo: "Don't worry, I wont post it online." She had her camera in hand and was walking towards him, assuming I would accept. "No thanks." I really can't see why someone would want a picture of a random child in their collection and there's no way I'm allowing that. Was a nice little hike though, catching up with Junz who was visiting from England and having some quality time with uncle Matt.

The car needed a service, so with a few hours on the other side of town, me and the little man had a walk over to the aquarium and spent the morning there. It was completely empty when we arrived so we had the whole place to ourselves. He absolutely LOVED it. Crawling around and standing up against the tanks, pointing and waving at the fish. At one point, a diver was cleaning the inside of the glass and they had a little wave to each other. I nearly cried a couple of times walking around with him, just thinking how lucky I was to spend this sort of time with him. I'm even tearing up now thinking about it. What a mess.

Buzzing for the aquarium.

The rest of the time has been mainly spent preparing him (and us) for barnehage. The plan is for him to have a couple days a week there to get used to it so that in December it wont be such a shock to go full time. My masters begins today, so it's also a good opportunity to get ahead with the first module. His barnehage is pretty awesome - quite a hippie paradise with all old school wooden toys, chickens and vegetables. As part of the prep, I went to the parents evening and sat nodding pretending to understand what was being said (I picked up one or two things but tend to drift off) and then attended the dugnad, which is part of Norwegian culture whereby people of an organisation get together a couple of times a year to clean, paint and generally maintain the area. I dug up some bark and had a good chat with some of the parents - all lovely.  Was good to have some time talking to adults.

Evidence of manual labour

Had another trip to the island for Hunter to be doted over by his great grandparents - he gets properly spoiled by them :) He has a new tripp-trapp highchair and a bed which mormor sorted him out with, as well as loads of handmade wool clothes. The weather was mint, so we had a little drive out to the beach for a wander.

Beach baller.

We've been social butterflies recently - I've been playing football each week with Matt, a mix of people from work and a group of guys I don't know. Everyone seems cool and I am so happy to be playing again. Yes, it does take me a whole week to recover but it's worth it. Stine is now working with someone who has a small child and her husband is also on pappaperm. One of my goals was to meet another dad to hang with sometimes so this was a good opportunity. We went for a walk and a coffee last week and then we all had a burger and beers together at Molo on the Friday. Amazing how similar we are and really good to have people around in the same position as us. This weekend we went to Molde to visit Tina, Ole, Mathea and Molly - had an awesome time catching up, playing with the kids, eating ridiculously good venison and having a go on Ole's steering wheel and pedals on F1.

Post barnehage pizza buffet. His forehead enjoyed it.

Lille troll.

Hunter really is the most amazing little mano. He is so kind and brave and interested and funny. He is also super active and crawling about all over the place, climbing up everything and even beginning to stand by himself for a few seconds before he realises and drops to his arse. Words are beginning to form now - I'm pretty sure he is trying to say "puss" to the cat. It sounds more like "Bush" at the moment though.

Anyway, that's it for now. Cheers.
